  • On the basis of how organisms obtain their food ie. mode of nutrition, they are divided as Autotrophs and Heterotrophs.
  • Autotrophs:

These are the living organisms which prepare their own food, ie. they are not depended on others for obtaining their food.

Ex. All the plants ( Some are exceptions like pitcher plant or venus fly trap, etc.)

  • Heterotrophs:

These are the living organisms which are depended on others for obtaining their food. They are either depended on producers(plants) or other animals.

Ex. Tiger, Human Being, deer ,etc.

Organisms are classified into autotrops and hetrotrophs on the basis of there mod of taking food. Organisums that prepare there own food are called autotrops and organisms that depend on other is called hetrotrophs.
