Given Data:

n = 4

L.c. = 0.01 cm

Main scale Reading = 0.00cm

Zero error = ?

Zero correction = ?

Solution:

Main scale reading = 000cm

Vernier scale reading = (L.C × n)

= (0.01 × 4)

= 0.04 cm

As,

The zero of the Vernier scale is on the right side of the main scale zero

So error is positive

Zero Error = + (main scale reading + Vernier scale reading)

= + (0.00 + 0.4)

Zero Error = + 0.04 cm

Note:

If error is positive then the correction applied will be negative and vice versa.

Result:

Zero Error = +0.04 m , Zero correction = - 0.04cm
