On comparing the ratios a1/a2, b1/b2, and c1/c2, find out whether the following pair of linear equations are consistent, or inconsistent.❣

(i) 3x + 2y = 5 ; 2x – 3y = 7

(ii) 2x – 3y = 8 ; 4x – 6y = 9

Answer:

2x−3y−8=0⟶(1)

4x−6y−9=0⟶(2)

2x−3y−8=0

Comparing with a1x+b1y+c1=0

a1=21b1=−31c1=−8

4x−by−9=0

Comparing with a2x+b2y+c2=0

a2=4b2=−6c2=−9

a1=21b1=−31c1=−8

a2=4b2=−6c2=−9

a2

ANSWER

2x - 3y - 8 = 0(1)

4x - 6y - 9 = 0 = (2)

2x3y - 8 = 0

  • Comparing with a 1 X + b1 y +cl=0

a1 = 21b1 =  - 31c1 =  - 8

4 \times  - by - 9 = 0

  • Comparing with a 2x + b2 y +C2=0

a2 = b2 = 6c2 =  - 9

a1 = 21b1 =  - 31c1 =  - 8

a2 = 4b2 =  - 6c2 =  - 9

 = a2
