Jawaharlal Nehru proposed the Objective Resolution to the Constitution of India on 13th December 1946 which laid down the principles of the constitution. The Objective Resolution provides the philosophy of the constitution. The Resolution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 22 January 1947. The Resolution proclaimed India as a sovereign Republic which is now independent of any external ruler.
