If a tube of very narrow bore is dipped in a liquid, the liquid in the capillary either ascends or descends, which is called the capillary action.

we know that this height is given by

h = 2scos∅/rρg

Hence the height is inversely proportional to the acceleration due to gravity(g).

when a lift falls freely, the net acceleration due to gravity is zero.

Hence in the absence of gravity the liquid will ascend entirely, hence the height of liquid column will be 20 cm
