On dissolving sugar in water there is no increase in volume of water. give reason

I believe it's because the sugar molecules get into the spaces in-between the water molecules that's why volume of water doesn't increase.

that is earthly truth sugar dissolves in water so that the amount of sugar is unchanged with the amount of water
