On entire Earth the ratio between land and water is  1 : 2 and at northern hemisphere this ratio is 2 : 3. What will be the  ratio of land with water at southern hemisphere?

\bf\bigstar{Answer}

Given :

Ratio of Land & water on entire Earth = 1 : 2

Ratio at northern hemisphere = 2 : 3

To find :

Ratio of land and water at southern hemisphere

Solution :

Let the ratio at southern hemisphere be ' x : y '.

Then ,

Ratio of southern hemisphere + Ratio of northern hemisphere =

                                                                                 Ratio on entire Earth

ie,

⇒ x : y + 2 : 3 = 1 : 2

⇒ x : y = ( 1 : 2 ) - ( 2 : 3 )

\implies\bf\dfrac{x}{y}=\bf\dfrac{1}{2}-\bf\dfrac{2}{3}

For subtracting fractions, first we must make the denominators same.

So LCM of 2 and 3 = 6

Then,

\implies\bf\dfrac{x}{y}=\bf\dfrac{3}{6}-\bf\dfrac{4}{6}

\implies\bf\dfrac{x}{y}=\bf\dfrac{3-4}{6}

\implies\bf\dfrac{x}{y}=\bf\dfrac{-1}{6}

\implies\bf{x : y = -1 : 6}

Then the ratio of land and water in southern hemisphere is ( -1 : 6 ).

Hope this answer can helps u dear !!
