The immune system of our body responds to a particular stimuli, the entering of a disease causing or pathogen microbe. The immune responds involve the rising of temperature, swelling and rashes,etc. When the immune system is very weak the response to the pathogen is nearly nil. that means that the person won’t develop a noticeable disease despite the microbe entering their body. Severe infections take place in our body when the immune response is low and the pathogen has already created enough damage, causing the immune system to fall weak. For eg: A person on a ventilator due to being diagnosed with COVID-19, is facing a serious face of the disease because the immune system was weak due to some factors and hence the response was less to eliminate the virus
