On heating a mixture of iron fillings & Sulphur it is observed that a new compound is formed in which the iron filings cannot be separated by a magnet. It has properties that are different from its constituents that is iron and sulphur. When carbon disulphide is mixed, sulphur does not mix with it. It shows that the properties of constituents lose their properties and form a compound.
