Initially ferrous sulphate is present in its water of crystallization i.e FeSo4.7H2O. When it is heated Ferrous sulphate produces S02 and S03 gas, and colour gets faded and becomes white.
FeS04.7H20 ⇒ FeS04 + 7H20
FeS04 ⇒ Fe203 + S02 + S03
