ALTITUDE IS THE VILLAIN !!

As altitude increases atmospheric pressure decreases. The Himalayas is located at a very high altitude. So the atmospheric pressure is very low in the region.

This can be very much related to Gay Lussac's Law. It states that Pressure is directly proportional to Temperature.

So when pressure is very low, hence Temperature also decreases to a large extend.

This is why Himalayas remain cold, inspite of being close to the Sun.

Hope this helps
