on increasing the price of am article by 16% ot beacomes rupees 1479.what was its original price.

Let the original price = x
Increase % in the article = 16%
New price = Rs. 1479

Original price can be found out by making the following equation:

x+16/100*x= 1479
(100+16)x/100 =1479
116x = 1479 *100
x= 147900/116 = 1275

selling price = 1479

now lets recall a formula 

=> c. p = s.p * 100 / 100 +profit

     = 1479 *100 / 116

        = 14790 / 116

         = rs .1275
