On increasing the price of an article by 16% , it becomes ₹ 1479. what was its original price ?

increased percentage = 16%
let the original price be x
price increased= 16% of x
1479 = x + (16/100 × x)
1479 = x + 16x / 100
1479 = 100x / 100 + 16x/100
1479 = 116x/100
1479 ×100/116 =x
12.75×100=x
1275= x 
∴ original price = 1275
