Let the original price of the article is x.
Then 16% of original price is =x*16/100.
Then after increasing it
becomes=x+x*16/100
=x*116/100
So,
x*116/100=1479
or,x=1479*100/116
or,x=1479/100
or,x=1275 (ans)
Then 16% of original price is =x*16/100.
Then after increasing it
becomes=x+x*16/100
=x*116/100
So,
x*116/100=1479
or,x=1479*100/116
or,x=1479/100
or,x=1275 (ans)

Solution :-
Let the price of the article be Rs. 'x'
According to the question.
x + (x*16)/100 = 1479
⇒ x/1 + 4x/25 = 1479
Taking L.C.M. of the denominators and then solving it.
⇒ (25x + 4x)/25 = 1479
⇒ 29x/25 = 1479
⇒ 29x = 1479*25
⇒ x = 36975/29
⇒ x = 1275
So, the original price of the article is Rs. 1275
