Poet Gieve Patel has tried to tell us many  Ways  in which a tree can be killed through this poem .

He, covertly tells us that we are very inhuman and cruel to these beings that are the part of our nature.

He tells us the way in which trees can be killed because he does not want us to do  those ways and kill a tree.

There is a deep irony in this poem used very efficently by the poet.
