HELLO THERE!

When lead nitrate reacts with potassium iodide, lead iodide and potassium nitrate is formed.

1) The precipitate formed is Lead Iodide, which is Yellow in colour.

2) Reaction: Pb(NO₃)₂ + 2KI -----> PbI₂ + 2KNO₃

This is a double displacement reaction or precipitation reaction. From two salt solutions we are getting a precipitate in which the anion gets exchanged and the rest of the product formed is also by exchange of anion.

2I⁻ ion goes to Pb²⁺, and 2NO₃⁻ ion goes to 2K⁺.

THANKS!
