A wall clock moves 10 minutes fast in every 24 hours. The clock was set right to show the correct time at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. When the clock shows the time 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, what is the correct time?

5.36 pm.

From Monday 8 am to Wednesday 8 am, REAL TIME, during those 48 hours, the clock would have gained 20 minutes, showing 8:20 am.

Remember, 1450 minutes by fast clock= 1440 minutes or 24 hours real time.

Now, the defective clock has moved from 8:20 am 6:00 pm, a total time duration of 580 minutes “ as per running by the fast clock”, so the real time is 580*(1440/1450), passed during those 580 minutes , which equals 576 minutes, meaning clock gained ANOTHER 4 minutes from 8:20 am to 6 pm, totalling 24 minutes, hence 6 hours -24 minutes = 5:36 pm
