On moving down a subgroup of the modern periodic table- the chemical properties of the elements vary gradually.

Explanation:

A property that leads to changes in chemical composition of a substance is known as chemical property. So, when we move down a group in periodic table then chemical properties of the elements remain the same.

For example, chemical properties of Li, Na, and K are the same as all of them are alkali metals and belongs to group 1 of the periodic table.

On the other hand, chemical properties of a sub-group will vary gradually as elements present in a sub-group will have different number of valence electrons. Hence, they will have different chemical properties.
