On paasing excess of co2 through lime water, it first turn milky and become colourless, reaction why?

lime water is calcium hydroxide which is dissolved in water and when carbon dioxide is passed through lime water it reacts with calcium hydroxide and forms a white coloured calcium carbonate insoluble substance.
