Slope =y2-y1/x2-x1

or simply difference of 2 ordinates divided by 2 abscisca

y=4

x=-2

y=8

x=-3

Slope =8-4/-3-(-2)

= 4/-3+2

= 4/-1

=-4

Slope =-4

2)when x=-5

y=1

x=5

y=3

Slope =3-1/5-(-5)

= 2/5+5

= 2/10

= 1/5
