its bcuz Zn from the plate being more reactive than Cu displaces it from its solution to form ZnSO4.

Explanation:

Zinc is a metal that is placed above copper in the periodic table. This means that copper is less reactive than zinc and therefore can displace it easily. So, when a zinc plate is kept in a solution of copper sulphate, zinc displaces copper to form zinc sulphate.

The reaction has chemical equation is given below:

Zn+CuSO_4 \rightarrow ZnSO_4 + Cu

The metal copper which is a product of the reaction starts depositing on the zinc plate and therefore, the plate develops holes in it.
