X is CaO.

Y is Ca(OH)_2.

Z is ammonia.

  • Let X be calcium oxide or CaO.
  • When CaO reacts with water it forms calcium hydroxide.
  • The reaction is-
  • CaO+H_2O\rightarrow Ca(OH)_2
  • Y is calcium hydroxide.
  • When calcium hydroxide reacts with ammonium chloride calcium chloride along with ammonia gas and water is formed.
  • The reaction is as follows-
  • Ca(OH)_2+2NH_4Cl\rightarrow CaCl_2+2NH_3+2H_2O.
  • Thus in this reaction ammonia gas is obtained. So, Z is ammonia.
