now we should find cost of bat first

let cost of bat be x

so now

6%of x is 6/100(x)=.06x

x+.06x=742

x(1+.06)=742

x=742/1.06

x=700

so

now he should sell at 8%gain

700+8%=756

He should sell at Rs. 756 to gain 8%.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Selling price of a bat = Rs. 742

Gain % = 6%

Cost price would be

\dfrac{100}{100+6}\times 742\\\\=\dfrac{100}{106}\times 742\\\\=Rs.\ 700

If he wants to gain 8%.

So, the selling price would be

\dfrac{100+8}{100}\times 700\\\\=108\times 7\\\\=Rs.\ 756

Hence, he should sell at Rs. 756 to gain 8%.
