Given :-

  • AB = 100 m

  • BC = 100 m

To find :-

  • Distance = ?

  • Magnitude of displacement (AC) = ?

Solution :-

\rm\:Total\:Distance=AB+BC

\rm\:Total\:Distance=100m+100m

\rm\:Total\:Distance=200\:m

Hence,the distance will be 200 m.

Now,

\rm\:Displacement\:(AC)=\sqrt{{(AB)}^{2}+{(BC)}^{2}}

\rm\:Displacement\:(AC)=\sqrt{{(100)}^{2}+{(100)}^{2}}

\rm\:Displacement\:(AC)=\sqrt{10000+10000}\:m

\rm\:Displacement\:(AC)=\sqrt{20000}\:m

\rm\:Displacement\:(AC)=100\sqrt{2}\:m

Hence,the magnitude of displacement will be 100√2 m.
