Let 'x' be the number

then, according to the given condition;

(x -  \frac{3}{4} )( \frac{5}{6} ) =  \frac{ - 5}{12}  \\ \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  x -  \frac{3}{4} = ( \frac{ - 5}{12}  )( \frac{6}{5} ) \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:   x -  \frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{ - 1}{2}  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x =  \frac{ - 1 \times 2}{2 \times 2}  +  \frac{3}{4}  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: x =  \frac{ - 1}{4}

Hence, the number is -¼.

Answer:

Let the no. be x.

According to the ques,

(x-3/4)*5/6 = -5/12

[(4x-3)/4] * 5/6 = -5/12

4x-3 = -2

4x = 1

x = 1/4.

So, the answer is 1/4.
