on the basis of interaction there are two categories of forces

Contact forces - the force occur when two objects are in contact.
example- Normal reaction, friction

Non contact force- interaction of two objects which are not in contact
not require to make contact

example- gravitational, magnetic electrostatic etc.

Basically, there are two types of forces, contact forces, and non contact forces. Gravitational forces, electric forces, magnetic forces, nuclear forces, frictional forces are some examples of forces.
