Explanation:

In liquids the intermolecular force of attraction is moderate i.e less than the solids and that much that the molecules can move (change there position), they also bear larger intermolecular spaces. Due to these moderate conditions the molecules move partially bonded(attached) with each other which is seen as flow. Due to its flow (as the molecules have kinetic energy) they are not fixed or rigid at a place like solids and thus they don't have a fixed shape. But have a definite volume as it takes the shape of the container respective to the molecules mass and density and flows only from higher level to lower level i.e. not against the gravity (unlike gases which flows in all directions). And also their volume is fixed they are negligibly compressible.
