On the basis of ownership industries are classified into following--->

PUBLIC SECTOR

These industries are owned and operated by the government.
Like ,BHEL( Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited), SAIL (Steel Authority of India)

These industries are owned and operated by the individuals.
Like, TISCO, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Reliance Ltd,etc

Like, Oil India Ltd,etc

COOPERATIVE SECTOR

These industries are owned and operated by producers or sellers or raw materials.
Like,sugar industry and coil industry.

1.Private sector--These industries are maintained ,governed and cooperated by private agencies. e.g. Tisco,Bajaj, and various Small scale industries.

2.Public sector-These Industries are maintained and governed by governement which are maintained by governement itself.E.g. BSNL

3.Joint sector -- These industries are jointly run by governement and individuals or group of individuals.
e.g. OIL (oil india limited)

4.Cooperative sector - These industries are owned and operated by the producers or suppliers or even workers or both.e.g.Sugar industry in maharashtra.
