There are five kinds of industries based on the raw materials used :

1. Agro-Based Industries:  these industries use agricultural products like crops as their raw materials to manufacture clothes, sugar, oil, and paper. Some agro-based industries are textile industries and sugar industries.

2. Mineral Based Industries: These industries extract pure minerals from raw mineral ores. These minerals are used by other industries as raw materials for different products. Some mineral-based industries are iron and steel industries and copper smelting industries.

3. Pastoral Based Industries: These industries use raw materials obtained from animals like skins, bones, milk, etc. Some pastoral based industries are dairy product industries and leather industries.

4. Marine Based Industries: These industries use sea products as their raw materials to manufacture seafood and fish oil. Some marine-based industries are seafood processing industries and fish oil industries.

5. Forest-Based Industries: These industries use forest products as their raw materials to manufacture furniture, paper, medicines, etc. Some forest-based industries are pulp and paper industries and plywood industries.
