Rutherford nuclear model of atom was given by projecting alpha particles which have very high energy. the results of rutherford experiment were quite unexpected.

1. most of the alpha particles passed through the gold foil undeflected

2. asmall fraction of the alpha particles was deflected by small angles.

3 a very few alpha particles bounced back
