Following are three similarties between India and Nepal :

  • In Nepal most  people are Hindus, just like in India most  people living in India are Hindus.  Both Nepal and India  are multilingual, multicultural and multiethnic countries.
  • Both Nepal and India are religiously multi-religious and secular countries. Although both countries have the largest number of Hindu populations. Both countries are the belief centers of  the followers of Hinduism.
  • Most  places in Nepal and India have significant Vedic history and are related to Hinduism and even Buddhism. Nepal and India are home to two major world religions, Hinduism and Buddhism. Both countries are known for meditation, yoga and spiritual enlightenment.
  • It is hard to believe but it is a fact that both India and Nepal have hundreds of festivals throughout the year. Every religion and community celebrates their cultures and festivals as these are multicultural countries.
  • In Nepal and India there are state, religious and communal festivals that appear similar but are celebrated differently  in each region and community. So every day is a new festival for the people of these countries.
  • In simple words, one can also say that  Nepal and India are the land of festivals, where people of different ethnic groups and religions live together in harmony.
  • There are many  festivals and celebrations in India and Nepal that are totally the same and similar such as Makar Sakranti, Holi, Baisakhi, Rakshabandhan, Krishna Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Dashain (In India it is called Dussehra), Christmas, Diwali, Eid , Teej, Shivratri, Ramnawami, Basanta Panchami, Buddha Purnima etc.Both countries have cultural and ethnic diversity. Nepal and India  are multicultural, multiethnic and multilingual countries.
