On the basis of the peom Animals of class 10th answer these question below :-

Answer the following questions in 30-40 words :
i) In what way does the poet find animals to be better than humans?
ii) What are the ‘tokens ‘that the poet says he may have dropped long ago, and
which the animals have kept for him?
iii) How does the poet reveal that there exists a sense of equality among animals?

i) In the poem 'Animals' by Walt Whitman, the poet feels more at home with animals than human beings because he believes that animals are much better than humans as they do not possess any human vices. He strongly feels that the animals are uncomplicated and are content with their lives.

ii)The token that the poet says he might have dropped long ago, and which the animals have kept for him, is his true nature as a human. While humans came close to civilisation, they gradually moved away from their true nature.

iii)He expresses these by his poem "Animals". According to the poet, animals are peaceful and self-contained. They don't complain about anything, on the other hand, humans are crooked and crazy for material things. ... He says that for the animals all are equal.
