Anyway, in the story, we can conclude that the lifestyle of struggling artists in large cities is really hard. It is full of sacrifice and selflessness. The artist Behrman drew a leaf on the wall of a building as a symbol of hope for his sick neighbor. This caused him to contract an acute pneumonia as the weather was very terrible when he went out into the night to paint the last ivy leaf on the wall. His neighbor eventually got well but Mr. Berhman died.
