Bombay Sapphire is a brand of gin. It was launched by IDV in 1987. It was sold to Bacardi in 1997. Its name originated from the popularity of gin during the British Raj in India. The sapphire is the Star of Bombay which is on display at the Smithsonian Institution. The gin is sold in a sapphire coloured bottle which has flat sides and a picture of Queen Victoria on the label.
