On the graph paper Sketch the parallelogram whose vertices are P(0,-3),Q(5,-3)R(8,1) and S(3,1). also find the area of it.

EVALUATION

On the graph we plot the points P(0,-3),Q(5,-3)R(8,1) and S(3,1)

Graph : Graph is referred to the attachment

We join the points to get a parallelogram PQRS

Measurement of area :

We join the point P and R to make a diagonal

We first find the area of the triangle PRS

Area of the triangle PRS

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{1}{2} |0(1 - 1) + 8(1 + 3) + 3( - 3 - 1)|  \:  \:  \: sq.unit }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 20  \:  \:  \: sq.unit }

 \displaystyle \sf{ =  10 \:  \:  \: sq.unit }

∴ Area of the parallelogram PQRS

= 2 × Area of the triangle PRS

= 2 × 10 Sq.unit

= 20 Sq.unit

Let PQRS be the ||gm [KINDLY REFER TO ATTACHMENT]

We know that :-

Area of parallelogram=Base×height

Here base =PQ=5 units

And height=SR=4 Units

Area=5×4

Area=20 unit ²
