Complete Question :- Mrs.Sharma has one farm of area 1080 sq meters. She is planning to grow 6 vegetables this season and hence has divided her farm into three unequal parts so that she can grow two vegetables on each part. Area of largest part of the farm is 580 sq meters, the area of smallest farm is 180 sq meters. Help her with the problems she is facing mathematically.

a) On the largest part she wants to grow potato and onion in the ratio 19:10. Find the area covered by potato and onion separately.

Solution :-

given that,

→ Area of largest part of the farm is = 580 sq meters

since she wants to grow potato and onion on the largest part .

so, let us assume that, the area covered by potato is 19x sq m and onion is 10x sq m.

then,

→ 19x + 10x = 580

→ 29x = 580

→ x = 20

therefore,

→ Area covered by potato = 19x = 19 * 20 = 380 sq meters

→ Area covered by onion = 10x = 10 * 20 = 200 sq meters
