1.key or legend is always made on a map to tell the meaning of the colours used on the map.

Almost the same colour scheme is used on all maps.

2.The sub directions or intermediate directions are North East ,south east ,North West ,South West.

The sub directions or intermediate directions are North East ,south east ,North West ,South West. This scheme of directions is followed in every country of the world.

3.Different types of maps are-

a. Political maps which show different countries, States and cities etc.

b. Physical maps show different physical features.

c. Thematic maps show details of a certain theme such as rainfall forest population etc.

According to scale there are two type of maps also:

i. Large scale map. II. Small scale map

4.Conventional symbols are shown in the maps ,these symbols are made according to the scale.These

can be drawn in different colours we can easily remember the symbols on the map with a little practice .
