Good morning everyone present here. I am feeling so honoured
to have got the opportunity to express my views on 'Empowering the girl child
is the best way to empower the nation.' Well it is true. There is a saying in
Africa which says 'If you educate a man, you educate an individual. But if you
educate a woman, you educate a nation.' This saying has relevance in India
where education of girls is not given much importance. The situation is more serious
in backwards states like Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Utrakhand, Jharkhand, etc. The
objectives of making India afully developed country by our government won't be
fulfilled until 100% literacy is achieved, including the girls'. The survey
statistics don't augur well. Still in many backward areas the girls enrollment
has been going on very low. In spite of the government's many initiatives, the
reality remains unpromising. Government alone won't be able to accomplish this
Herculean task. We the people will have to join hands and launch campaigns to
promote girls' literacy and education. We will have to relaunch the campaign 'Each One Teach One' to really empower the girl children with education. The first target must be 100% literacy of girls in India.
