World environmental day is the perfect opportunity to make people aware of the issues we are facing and how one can contribute to saving it.

Dear diary
Today we celebrated World Environment Day. I participated in the debate competition. The topic was “Environment protection comes before economic progress”. I spoke for the motion. Though I won the second prize, I enjoyed listening to what the others had to say. I realised that it is not easy to decide what is more important- the environment or economic progress. While I stood for the environment, there were others who gave more importance to the livelihood of the poor. The debate opened up my mind to so many more perspectives. It was a clear case of keeping my ears and mind open.
I am already waiting for the next debating event!
