i) the social groups that he mentions are ortodox brahmins and Muslims. Groups for easily identifiable by their dressing, tradition and culture. For eg, Kalam used to wear a cap on his head which marked him as a Muslims and ramanadha Sastry for a sacred thread which mark him as a Brahmin.

ii) they were not aware of their differences. They also naturally share their friendship and experiences. Kalams mother and grandmother would tell events from Ramayana and from the Life of Prophet as bedtime storie. During annual Seetha Rama Kalyanam ceremony his family would arrange boats with a special platform for carrying idols of the lords from the temple to the marriage site situated in the middle of the pond called ramatirtha which was near his home
