When light travel from rarer medium to denser medium light bend towards the normal of the incidence light on the prism based on the incidence the light bend

Similarly when light travel from denser medium to rarer medium light bend away from the normal of the incidence

This according to Snell's law

Sina/sinb=n1/n2

Where a is the angle incidence to the normal

Where b angle of refraction to normal

n1 and n2 is the refractive index of rarer medium and denser medium respectively
