Legislative, Executive and Judiciary are the organs of a state. The work is shared among  them through the horizontal distribution of powers.

This distribution have different organs of government at the similar level exercise with different powers.

The distribution of the powers helps in maintaining the balance of powers. This category of power sharing is also termed as a system of “Checks and Balances”.
