The 18th century Indian society was divided on the basis of Caste, Religion, Tribe, language and Region.

The Hindu society was divided into four castes--Brahmans, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras. Besides these four castes, there were other numerous castes or Jatis.

The Muslims were also divided into various ethnic groups well.
