The French National Day is the anniversary of Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a turning point of the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. Celebrations are held throughout France.

Bastille Day is celebrated in France on July 14.

It marks the storming of the Bastille jail on July 14, 1789 to free the political prisoners.

It is the turning point of the French Revolution and led to the abolition of monarchy and the proclamation of the French Republic.

Since then, Bastille Day, or le quatorze juillet as it is simply known, has been celebrated as the French national day.
