#Capacitance of conductor is directly proportional to the area of plates.

# and capacitance is inversely proportional to the distance between the plates.

# increase with the permittivity of dielectric material.

Capacitance of conductor depends on:

Capacitance is defined by the equation C = Q/V. Therefore, given a fixed number of charges, the variables affecting a conductor's potential will likewise affect the capacitance. The causes of change are as follows:

(a) Conductor area: Capacitance will rise in direct proportion to conductor area. We are aware that C = 40rr for a spherical conductor. Therefore, as r increases, area likewise grows, which causes its capacitance C to grow as well. Generally speaking, it applies to all conductors.

(b) The medium surrounding the conductor: A conductor's capacitance is influenced by the medium's dielectric constant. A conductor's capacitance is greater in media with a higher dielectric constant than it is in media with a lower dielectric constant. From equation (Capacitance of a capacitor), it can be demonstrated that, if the capacitance of a conductor in an air medium or a vacuum is C0 and it is Ck for a medium with dielectric constant r, then

εr = Ck/C0

(c) The distance separating the plates: A parallel plate capacitor's capacitance reduces as the distance between its plates widens, and the opposite is true when the distance narrows.
