There is some major factor on which heat produced in the current carrying conductor depends upon. Some of the major ones are Resistance of the conductor: Heat produced in a conductor is the product of the square of the current and resistance ie (P=I*I*R). So, higher the resistance of the conducting wire more is the loss in it.
