On what factors does the resultant displacement at any point in the region of superposition of two waves depend. Help me ! The one who answers surely gets 50 points and will be marked as brainliest.

hi mate,

answer:

law of conservation of momentum: - the total initial momentum of a body remains constant till it is applied by an external force

a) explosion of a bomb: -

law of conservation of momentum is followed

total momentum before explosion = 0

therefore, m1•v1 + m2•v2 =0 =》 m1•v1 = -m2•v2

m1 = mass of one part after explosion

m2 = mass of another part

v1 = velocity of one part (m1)

v2 = velocity of another part (m2)

b) no, law of conservation is not followed because the body has a potential energy and external force is applied by the elastic.

and displacement depends upon the thickness of the glass slab, the angle of incidence and angle of refraction and since these two angles are related by refractive index, we can equally say that the lateral displacement depends upon the refraction index.

i hope it helps you.

  • It depends on the Law of conservation of momentum.
  • Since the two waves are travelling in the same medium, they travel with the same speed.
  • The resulting superposition sum wave travels in the same direction and with the same speed as the two component waves, but its local amplitude depends on whether the two individual waves have the same or opposite phase.
