National Anthem shall be played on occasions given below:

• On arrival and departure of the President, Governor and Lieutenant Governor at events or functions organized by the Government.
• In National Salute.
• During President's address in All India Radio.
• In parade while bringing national flag.
• Civil and Military investitures.
• While presenting the Regimental Colors.
• In the Navy, while hoisting colors.

It can also be played when we have special orders issued by the Government of India. A specific indication like playing drums has to be done before playing the anthem to let audience know. It has to be specific in a way that everyone who is in the audible range of the rhythm should be aware.
