Mass of a body is a measure of its inertia the larger mass of a body, the larger is inertia or opposition offered by a body to change its state of motion.
If a body has more mass then it has more inertia i.e. it is more difficult to change its state of rest or of Uniform Motion.
For example : On hitting a football, it flies along the long way. If we pick a stone of the same size, it hardly move instead we make it an injury in whole leg while hitting the Stone.
Inertia is directly proportional to the mass of the body.
