(D) Density.

Resistance: The property of opposing the flow of current is termed as resistance.

Dependence of Resistance:

  • Length of conductor: The resistance of any body is directly proportional to the length of the conductor.
  • Area of cross-section: The resistance of any body is inversely proportional to the area of cross-section of the conductor.
  • Temperature- Resistance of a body increase with the increase in temperature which further slows down the flow of electrons.

 Formula used for calculating resistance:

                                          R = (\frac{pL}{A} )

                                where, R = resistance

                                             p = resistivity

                                            L = length of conductor

                                             A = area of cross-section.

Resistance does not depend on the density of the conductor but depends on the density of free electrons.
